The 2025 Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Expo in Houston wasn’t just about what was in the cup—it was also about the cup itself. With a focus on design, functionality, sustainability, and innovation, cup manufacturers showcased cutting-edge coffee vessels that elevated the tasting experience.
Icosa Brewhouse emerged as a standout, winning a Best New Product award for its Avensi Wave line—glassware engineered to highlight the distinct aromas, textures, and flavor profiles of brewed coffee. Each piece features specialized interior contours designed to enhance the sensory experience.
The company also debuted the Aeresso Go, a 35ml (max 75ml) glass created in partnership with Stronghold Roasters, designed for tastings at industry events. Its tapered top concentrates aromas, while internal ridges encourage swirling. As a sustainability-driven alternative to paper cups, the Aeresso Go was given away to select attendees, complete with silicone bands and lanyards, promoting reusable glassware in an expo setting.
The initiative emphasized not just better tasting but also better practices, highlighting how design and sustainability can go hand-in-hand in the specialty coffee world.
