Coffee innovation usually focuses on high-tech gadgets and fancy brewing machines. But Alan Phung, an entrepreneur from Chicago, is taking a different path. His idea comes from personal loss, his cultural roots, and a wish to make Vietnamese coffee easy to enjoy for everyone.
This June, Mai Coffee will launch the first-ever Vietnamese Coffee Pouches. These pouches work like tea bags and make brewing Vietnamese coffee simple—no special equipment needed.
Alan Phung calls this style “Viet Super Coffee.” It uses Robusta beans, which have less acidity, a rich chocolate flavor, and more caffeine than the Arabica beans commonly used in American coffee shops.
