Bitty & Beau’s Coffee will close its Homewood location next week. The coffee shop, known for employing and supporting people with disabilities, will officially close its doors on April 30.
In a letter posted at the shop on 1625 Oxmoor Road, the owners shared that the decision was difficult. “Unfortunately, the model set by others has proven unsustainable at our location,” the letter said. “Despite our best efforts to find a viable solution, we have come to the heartbreaking conclusion that we must close our doors.”
The company thanked the Homewood community for embracing its mission. The letter emphasized that customers did more than just enjoy coffee — they helped show that meaningful employment for people with disabilities matters. “Your support has made a lasting impact not only on our team but on the Homewood community,” the message read.
Bitty & Beau’s Coffee operates two locations in Alabama, with the other store in Auburn. Nationwide, the company has 20 locations.
The shop’s menu includes coffee, smoothies, frappes, bagels, muffins, brownies, and other treats.
Amy Wright, founder of Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, is scheduled to speak at the “Power of Possibilities” luncheon in May. The event will support Glenwood, a local nonprofit organization that serves people with autism and other disabilities.
